They always say defense leads to offense and tonight for Patrick Patterson that analogy came true. Patterson stole the ball from Brooklyn Nets guard, Deron Williams and later got the ball back to put the finishing touches on the play by hitting a game winning jumper!
Former Boston Celtics, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett returned to Boston yesterday for the first time since they were traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Pierce played his whole career, a total of 1,274 career games. Garnett played 6 years for the Celtics where he took the Boston Pride very seriously. The Celtics organization gave Garnett and Pierce two separate video tributes in the first half. Boston fans showered both former Celtics with applause during the videos that lasted several minutes for each player.
The two former Celtics had slow games as they both only scored 6 points but the Nets won 85-79. It was a great moment for the former Celtics who both expressed how they felt after the game. Pierce with a post game interview and the other two players spoke during post game press conferences.
Today Forbes Magazine released their rankings of most valuable NBA franchises. To no ones surprise the top 5 were large market teams. Coming in at the top was the New York Knicks valued at $1.4 Billion Dollars.
2nd -Los Angeles Lakers valued at $1.35 Billion Dollars.
3rd -Chicago Bulls valued at $1 Billion Dollars
4th -Boston Celtics valued at $875 Million Dollars
5th -Brooklyn Nets valued at $780 Million Dollars
In last place was the Milwaukee Bucks who are valued at $405 million dollars. Needless to say all NBA teams still have a great value!
At 15-26 and on a 4 game losing streak the New York Knicks are having one of their worst seasons in awhile. Star player Carmelo Anthony couldn’t hold back his frustration on the bench as his team fails to play decent defense against the Brooklyn Nets.
Bad news for Los Angeles Clippers fans as their star point guard will be out 3-5 weeks with a separated shoulder. It’s bad enough it’s 3-5 weeks but there’s rumors the shoulder could require surgery which would put the star guard out even longer. You always hate to see a great player like Chris Paul go out but this year the injuries aren’t playing favorites as Russell Westbrook, Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Al Horford and Derrick Rose have all been out this year. He leaked Ray Allen’s number 34 jersey who’s nickname is “Jesus Shuttlesworth” as it was the name of his character in He Got Game. The jerseys will be worn against the Boston Celtics (Jan. 21) and Brooklyn Nets (Mar. 12, Apr. 6).
