Phoenix Suns rookie, Alex Len hit Los Angeles Lakers, guard Nick Young with a hard foul on a dunk attempt sending Young to the floor! Young didn’t like the foul and went right at Len, the Morris Twins and Goran Dragic! The Lakers bench grabbed Young to get him off the floor before anymore trouble ensued but both Young and Len would be ejected.
Last night was the Battle of New York as the New York Knicks faced the new look Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn. New York was divided between the two teams but last night it was the New York Knicks who ruled the city for the night. The Knicks won 113-83.
During the Battle of New York, another battle took place between Brooklyn Nets forward, Kevin Garnett and New York Knicks forward, Andrea Bargnani. The battle started early on as Bargnani blew by an elderly KG for a big slam!
The battle didn’t heat up until the 4th quarter when the Knicks started to pull away. Both guys got tangled up and both coaches as well as players came to their teammates needs. Both players were given technical fouls and play continued.
Even though Bargnani and the Knicks won the game, KG definitely won the inner battle when Bargs hit a long 2 on Garnett and trashed talked his way down the court. The trash talking didn’t last long as everyone’s favorite official Joey Crawford called a technical which was Andrea’s second leading to an instant ejection from the game! With 3 more battles left it should be an interesting end to the war nonetheless!
This past Saturday a fight broke out between the Warriors and Blazers resulting in three ejections! Monday, the NBA issued two one game suspensions to Warriors center, Andrew Bogut and Blazers guard, Mo Williams. Both players escalated the incident and will be docked a games pay because of it.
This season a lot of players have been on edge during tangle ups with their opponents. We saw a couple weeks ago Blake Griffin and Serge Ibaka get tangled which led to an ejection for Ibaka and Matt Barnes. This week we have a tangle up with Warriors center, Andrew Bogut and Blazers center, Joel Freedand. Just like in the Clippers-Thunder fight, players from both teams came to back their teammates, which led to multiple ejections. Portland guards, Mo Williams and Wesley Matthews were ejected along with Warriors guard, Draymond Green.
The Clippers and Thunder have been one of the best rivalries in the west the last couple of years. Both teams see themselves as a force to be reckoned with and will not back down from anyone. Tonight was no different when late in the second quarter Blake Griffin and Serge Ibaka got tangled up which led to a shoving match between the two teams. Matt Barnes jumped in on the fun as he came to back up Griffin. Ibaka and Barnes were both ejected and Griffin received a technical for his part in the altercation.
